Paid Field Training
Partly what makes our Field Landman training program unique is we provide an opportunity for individuals to be viewed by several brokers with the possibilities of being selected for paid field training. This opportunity is only available to those who successfully complete the Energy Force Field Landman training class.
Paid training is not guaranteed. In order to be considered for the field training you must complete an application for paid field training and submit a current resume. This application is separate from the registration form for the Field Landman Training class. The paid training does come at an additional cost of $725.00. However, this fee isn’t collected until we have you placed with a broker for training. To make the payment process easy the fee is collected through payroll deductions as you are working and getting paid.
The selection process does take some time. Typically we will contact you within two weeks after completion of the class if you have been selected. Keep in mind, placement is not guaranteed, so don’t quit your job. There are several factors considered when evaluating for placement, most of them being.
Test scores are important and the average for our classes always lie between 76 -78 percent. However, a high test score alone will not get you placed, there are other factors that brokers consider when evaluating for placement opportunities.
Resume’s, your job history is also something they consider. A stable history in a resume definitely makes you more appealing. Experienced landmen are at a premium, and brokers are not interested in investing time in individuals who are not going to stay or invest in their own career.
Education status is becoming more and more important. Although currently being a Field Landman does not require a four year degree, Legislature is working to make requirements in order to practice Landman work. The AAPL is working to help ensure Landmen are working professionals who practice their work ethically and honestly and are putting education stipulations on the RL, RPL, and CPL certifications. Because of this, some brokers are only interested in those with a four year degree.
And one of the most important is availability to travel. As brokers may have work in central Oklahoma today, next month they may need you in the northern Rockies, and brokers need landmen who can travel where the work is. Being a Field Landman is not the most conducive occupation for someone who needs to be at home on a regular basis. As a trainee it is even more important because you are in need of training. However, just getting the training is not enough, the brokers want someone who they are going to consider hiring contract, more than likely in the same area, or project they were working you as a trainee.
The paid training period typically lasts for a minimum of 16 weeks. In order to comply with IRS regulations you are an employee of Energy Force, LLC during the 16 week training. You will begin at a salary of $125.00 per day plus all reimbursable expenses. During this time you will be expected to travel just as a contract landman. You go where the work is. Once your training is complete you will be released from Energy Force and be allowed to sign on directly as an independent contractor with the broker who trained you if a contract is extended. Energy Force is not in the brokering business, so if for any reason you are released from the training by your training broker, Energy Force may or may not have another assignment for training.
If you have any additional questions or if we can provide you with additional information please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to seeing you in our class.
